An introduction into my practice of movement and voice. During the pitch I will shortly present the context for my work, and talk about the upcoming project “Libelle”, a performance for young audiences, part of Explore Dance network in Germany, which will have its premiere in May 2021 in Munich Germany.

About
Choreographer and dancer May Zarhy (*1984), is an independent maker, whose work ranges between stage, site specific and participatory performances under the wide definition of choreography. In her work she is busy with the relation between the media of dance and music, examining the materiality of movement in relation to that of sound, through collaborations with artists from the field of sound, voice and music. Zarhy is a graduate of the Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands (2006) and the choreography program ex.e.r.ce in Montpellier France, directed by Xavier Le Roy and Mathilde Monnier (2007). She assisted choreographer William Forsythe in his creation for the Forsythe Company in Frankfurt Germany (2005). She is a founding member of the mamaza choreographic collective together with Ioannis Mandafounis and Fabrice Mazliah in Germany (2009-2015), with whom she has been Associated Artist in deSingel theater in Antwerp Belgium (2011-12) and in Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt Germany (2012-14). Among her recent pieces are: untitled (HaZira Performance Art Arena, Diver Festival 2019, presented at the Center for Contemporary Art Tel-Aviv-Yafo), the VOICES (Diver Festival 2017 and Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis 2018) and more. She teaches at the School of Visual Theater Jerusalem, and works as a dramarturg and rehearsal director for fellow choreographers, such as: Adi Boutrous, Shira Eviatar etc.
